According to Japanese tradition, on May 5th is Doan Ngo Festival, also known as Carp Festival. Since ancient times, Japanese people have hung carp flags with the wish that boys will grow up healthy and have a successful future career like a carp turning into a dragon.

Koinobori carp flags have 3 basic colors: black, red and blue, made of cloth or paper with a length from 1.5 m to 10 m.

– Black represents the calm winter water surface, symbolizes the quiet father, and water is the origin of all life.

– Red is the color of fire in summer, the color symbolizing the mother. Summer is the time when all things proliferate, and fire makes all things grow most intensely. In addition, fire also symbolizes wisdom.

– Green is the color of budding spring plants, symbolizing the healthy development of children.
