1 A “green oasis” in the crowded streets
No brilliant signs, no monumental facade. Modestly nestled at 1 Hang Mam Street, Hidden Gem Coffee at first look like an old house.
Although the width of the facade is just over one square meter, the inside of Hidden Gem Coffee opens a different world, colorful, quiet and creative. Each old item is regenerated here. Each corner of the shop is a story, part of the memory is retained, patched by the hand and enthusiasm of the owner. People call this place “isolated in the heart of the capital” is not exaggerated at all.

2 Impressive story of Hidden Gem Coffee
2.1 Journeys from forgotten things
For more than six years, the owner of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang has worked hard to search and collect secondhand from all over. What other people threw away, she considered a treasure. Old car seats were restored by her husband. Old bicycle rims into ceiling lights. Red glass bottles hang into a fence. Scrap plastic turned into fancy decorations. No one thinks things used to be in the landfill, can create a space that makes many tourists in Hanoi admire.
Many slogans such as “No Plastic”, “Green live every day” are hung in many corners of the wall, as a good will for all those who come here. Although not as shiny as modern cafes, Vietnamtravelio is sure that Hidden Gem is still attractive thanks to its rustic and unique personality.

According to the sharing, about 95% of the items in Hidden Gem Coffee are recycled, the remaining 5% are environmentally friendly, without plastic, no waste is difficult to decompose. Photo: Kenh14
2.2 Coffee shops are not like anywhere else in Hanoi
Hidden Gem Coffee has four floors, accommodating about 100 people. According to travel experience, the afternoon here is almost always closed. The second floor is the place to display recycled items. The fourth floor, the terrace to welcome the sun and wind is a place where diners can sip coffee and watch the old town from above.
The nostalgic yellow brown embraces the space inside Hidden Gem Coffee, causing people to get lost in a quiet memory domain. Young people like to come here to take pictures. Foreign visitors stop by curiosity, then stay because of the unique fascination that no Hanoi cafe has brought.

2.3 A philosophy of life sent through each item
Ms. Trang said that the previous generation lived very different now. A shirt, a table can be used for ten years, even more. Now, life is in a hurry to make old furniture and quickly leave. Recycling with her is not only environmental protection, it is also a way to respect memories, preserve the old value in her own way.
The couple used to travel, familiar with international tourists. Since 2018, they decided to open a shop, both serving coffee, and sending a message: “This world is still beautiful, if we know how to look differently.”
Hidden Gem Coffee has also become a widely spread destination on social networks by the decent stories behind. Someone came to drink coffee and then returned with … an old plastic bag for the shop to reuse. There are also people who bring “seemingly leaving” items but contribute to a unique small corner in the space of the shop.
In particular, Hidden Gem Coffee only serves drinks (Take-Away) if customers bring personal cups, a small but significant action in reducing plastic waste.

2.4 Not only beautiful but also delicious
Hidden Gem Coffee menu is quite rich, from coffee, tea, to cocktails, with prices from 30,000 to 85,000 VND. If you ask the best -selling dish here? It is the egg, specialties in Hanoi with smooth, fragrant, non -fishy eggs. The secret lying in a bit of milk wine is added, both smell and increase the taste. While coffee is carefully selected from farms in Lam Dong.

3 Recognition from special guests
On the afternoon of April 1, Hidden Gem Coffee suddenly welcomed two special guests: King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium. Not a luxurious restaurant or a famous coffee chain, they choose this place to enjoy egg coffee.
Why is that? Surely the cause comes from the environmentally friendly space and the philosophy of humanity of the shop. The second floor space of the shop is also the place to display recycled fashion items from the old jeans, where each item tells an old story and a new life cycle.

4 Quality assessment of Hidden Gem Coffee
4.1 Friendly team, gentle but delicate service
As soon as entering the shop, Hanoi tourists were welcomed by friendly and close attitude. There is no need for many interactions, just a few introductions when ordering, but the comfort from the face and service is enough to leave a beautiful impression. There are days when employees will actively invite a cup of tea to start a short story, a small action but clearly showing kindness and attention.

4.2 The full and harmonious meals between the taste and form
Not only drinks, the restaurant also serves quality meals, suitable for both salty and vegetarian people. Part of the full meat for the friend, the frugal vegetarian part but enough for themselves, each dish is carefully cared for by the chef at the shop. Crispy bread with rich fillings is the most popular dish. Besides, the price at Hidden Gem Coffee is also very reasonable, only about 165,000 VND for a full and flavored set.
4.3 Coconut coffee and the beauty of regeneration from old materials
At Hidden Gem Coffee, the space is designed by the owner from extremely unique recycled items: table from pallets, chairs from excess planks, decorated with hand -covered paintings covered the wall. Every small detail shows the spirit of green life and unlimited creativity.
A cup of fat coconut coffee, praised not only for its delicious taste but also for the generosity, there are days when guests are given two more free glasses of water because of their liking smiles. Although there was a noise from the next building, but when the taste was on the second floor, that separate space was almost completely separated from the noisy town.

5 Spread the sustainable value
From a small model, Hidden Gem Coffee has gradually become a green symbol in the heart of the old town. The owner hopes to have more similar models to be replicated to raise community awareness. Re -use what is old, seemingly invaluable to create new and useful things for society.
In a world that is reeling from fast development and consumption, Hidden Gem is a gentle reminder that: simplicity, kindness and environmental protection awareness still have a foothold, sometimes it is what makes people remember forever.
